Overview

BillSense is a multilingual medical bill and test explainer positioned as a verification standard for hospitals and clinics, with clinics paying on behalf of patients under a B2B model.

Built around India's IS 19493:2025 standardized billing norm, National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), and DPDP Act 2023 consent requirements. Existing medical explainers do not offer native Tamil support.

Users upload a photo of a hospital bill or diagnostic lab report to receive plain-language explanations in Tamil and English alongside deterministic benchmark checks against Indian statutory ceilings and standard rates.

Tech Deep Dive

Engineered with TypeScript and Next.js, separating deterministic compliance rule engines from LLM tasks. Google Gemini handles unstructured image line-item extraction into validated schemas, while TypeScript rule modules deterministically evaluate IS 19493 itemization, NPPA stent caps, and CGHS benchmarks without AI hallucination. Incorporates zero-retention in-memory buffers and DPDP Act 2023 compliant PII redaction.
